Submissions
Author Guidelines
1. Authors are invited to make a submission to JBAA. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.
2. Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.
3. An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.
Journal of Biological and Agricultural Advancements (JBAA) publishes only the original research papers and good quality reviews. The length of the whole manuscript should be 5000-8000 words. Submission of a manuscript implies that the work described has not been published before; that it is not under consideration for publication anywhere else. Its publication has been approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as by the responsible authorities – tacitly or explicitly – at the institute where the work has been carried out. The publisher will not be held legally responsible should there be any claims for compensation. The papers must be prepared following the guidelines of the journal. The papers not following the layout and style of the journal will not be accepted. The manuscripts will be reviewed by at least three consulting editors with two advisory board members/reviewers and after approval, these will be edited thoroughly. This process normally takes 2-3 months. If conditionally approved, the authors will be required to revise within a specific time.
Permissions
Authors wishing to include figures, tables, or text passages that have already been published elsewhere are required to obtain permission from the copyright owner(s) for both the print and online format and to include evidence that such permission has been granted when submitting their papers. Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to originate from the authors.
Text
Manuscripts should be submitted in MS Word. Use a normal, plain font (e.g. 10 point Times New Roman) and double spaced for text. Bottom page number and continuous line numbering should be included throughout the manuscript. Abbreviations should be defined at first mention and use consistently thereafter. Ample margin should be left on each side. Authors’ institutional address should follow authors name and will not appear as a footnote. Papers may be organized conveniently as: Full Title, Authors, Affiliation, Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Reference, Tables and Figures. Further subdivision of the Results section may be made as necessary. Keywords must be given below the Abstract.
Abbreviations
Abbreviations should be defined at first mention and used consistently thereafter.
The following style in the preparation of the manuscript may be followed:
Title Page
The title page should include the name (s) of the author (s), a concise and informative title, the affiliation (s) and address (es) of the author (s), the e-mail address, telephone and fax number of the corresponding author. In case of more than one authors with different institutions, use numbering in superscripts (1, 2, 3 etc) to separate the author’s affiliation.
Abstract
Please provide an abstract of 200 to 300 words. The abstract should not contain any undefined abbreviations or unspecified references.
Keywords
Please provide 4 to 6 keywords which can be used for indexing purposes.
Introduction
Must contain the comprehensive literature on the problem to be addressed and valid hypotheses to be tested in the study.
Materials and Methods
Must contain all details of the experimental procedure for the successful repetition of the experiment.
Result and Discussion
Results and discussion may be in a single section as “Results and Discussion” or if necessary, can be split into separate “Results” and “Discussion” sections. Present your results in a logical sequence in the text, tables and figures. Do not repeat in the text all the data given in the tables and figures rather than emphasize only important observations. Discussion should be logical and results must be discussed in the light of previous literature justifying your findings. Summarize the findings without repeating the data in results section. Relate your observations to important relevant studies; point out the implications of the results and their limitations.
Conclusion
Conclusion can be given in a separate heading or a short paragraph containing important conclusions of the study.
Acknowledgments
Persons and colleagues that contributed to the work, but, do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged. Acknowledgments of people, grants, funds, etc. should be placed in a separate section before the reference section. The role of funding organization should be mentioned clearly in acknowledgement of manuscript. If there is no funding source then the authors are required to state that “This research didn’t receive specific grant from any funding agency in the public, commercial or not-for-profit sectors”. The name of funding organization should be written in full. Consent and approval should be received from concerned persons or organizations before acknowledging them in the article.
Authors Contribution Statement
Authors must provide a short description of the contributions made by each listed author. This will be published in a separate section after the conclusion. Please be aware that changes to the list of authors are not possible after final acceptance of the manuscript.
Scientific Style
Please always use internationally accepted signs and symbols for units (SI units).
References
Author(s) should follow the latest edition of APA style in referencing. Please visit www.apastyle.org or download it from downloads link to learn more about APA style.
Tables
All the tables should be numbered using Arabic numerals (e.g., “Table 1”). They should always be cited in text in consecutive numerical order. For each table, a table caption (title) explaining the components of the table should be provided above the table. A reference of original source should be quoted at the end of table caption for previously published material. Asterisks may be used to identify the significant values or other statistical data and they should be included below the table in the form of footnotes. The tables should be editable. Justification of the text within the cells is honored at typesetting. Spaces or tabs to separate data within a cell should not be used. The cells that span multiple columns and rows may be merged. Text colour should be black and 10 font size should be consistent in all the tables.
Figures
All figures are to be numbered using Arabic numerals. Figures should be conceptual and unambiguous. Ensure that all elements of a figure (text and images) are readily visible at printed size. Ensure that all axes and figure elements are well-defined and explained, but avoid unnecessary text. Include and define error bars where appropriate.
Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
This journal is committed to upholding the integrity of the scientific record. Authors should refrain from misrepresenting research results which could damage the trust in the journal, the professionalism of scientific authorship, and ultimately the entire scientific endeavor. The manuscript has not been submitted to more than one journal for simultaneous consideration. The manuscript has not been published previously (partly or in full), unless the new work concerns an expansion of previous work (please provide transparency on the re-use of material to avoid the hint of text-recycling “self-plagiarism”). A single study has not split up into several parts to increase the quantity of submissions and submitted to various journals or to one journal over time (salami-publishing). No data have been fabricated or manipulated (including images) to support your conclusions. No data, text, or theories by others are presented as if they were the author’s own (“plagiarism”). Proper acknowledgements to other works must be given (this includes material that is closely copied (near verbatim), summarized and/or paraphrased, quotation marks are used for verbatim copying of material, and permissions are secured for material that is copyrighted. The journal uses software to screen for plagiarism. Authors whose names appear on the submission have contributed sufficiently to the scientific work and therefore share collective responsibility and accountability for the results.
If misconduct has been established beyond reasonable doubt, this may result in the Editor’s implementation of the following measures, including, but not limited to:
- If the article is still under consideration, it may be rejected and returned to the author.
- If the article has already been published online, depending on the nature and severity of the infraction, either an erratum will be placed with the article or in severe cases complete retraction of the article will occur. The reason must be given in the published erratum or retraction note.
- The author’s institution may be informed.
Changes of Authorship
Changes of authorship or in the order of authors are not accepted after acceptance of a manuscript. Requesting to add or delete authors at revision stage, proof stage, or after publication is a serious matter and may be considered when justifiably warranted. Justification for changes in authorship must be compelling and may be considered only after receipt of written approval from all authors and a convincing, detailed explanation about the role/deletion of the new/deleted author. In case of changes at revision stage, a letter must accompany the revised manuscript. In case of changes after acceptance or publication, the request and documentation must be sent to the Editor. The decision on accepting the change rests with the Editor of the journal and may be turned down. Therefore authors are strongly advised to ensure the correct author group, corresponding author, and order of authors at submission.
Disclosure of Potential Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose all relationships or interests that could have direct or potential influence or impart bias on the work. Although an author may not feel there is any conflict, disclosure of relationships and interests provides a more complete and transparent process, leading to an accurate and objective assessment of the work. Therefore, the corresponding author must include a summary statement in the text of the manuscript in a separate section before the reference list that reflects what is recorded in the potential conflict of interest disclosure form (s). If no conflict exists, the authors should state “The authors declare that they have no conflict of interest”.
The editor reserves the right to reject manuscripts that do not comply with the above-mentioned guidelines. The corresponding author will be held responsible for false statements or failure to fulfill the above-mentioned guidelines. Please check the author guidelines carefully before submitting your article.
Submission Preparation Checklist

With the submission, authors declare the originality of their work, properly citing, reusing or copying previous publications. If plagiarism is detected during the peer review process, the manuscript may be rejected. If plagiarism is detected after publication, the publisher has the right to issue a correction or retract the paper.
-
Conflict of Interest
Authors, reviewers or editorial staffs have to disclose every situation, which could potentially affect the impartial review and publication procedure.
